I Became a Doctor Because I Wanted to Teach
The word "doctor" comes from the Latin docēre — to teach. Somewhere along the way, most of clinical medicine forgot that part. You get maybe 20 minutes with a provider, which is barely enough time to assess and adjust, let alone actually teach you how your sleep, your stress, and your hormones are all talking to each other and showing up as migraine.
That's the gap I built The Migraine Resilience Academy to close. 6 weeks, with an optional 4 week extension if you want to keep going deeper once the core program ends.
"I had no idea how powerful being in community would be for me. I am new to migraine and it’s been an incredibly challenging year. I have lost a lot, and am continuing to adjust my expectations every day. But I found so much peace and healing by being in community with people who have the same pain experience that I have. A group of people who know what it feels like when light or sound physicaly hurt. Of course I learned a lot too. But I feel less alone and broken, seeing other people like me. And I feel like I have a much better understanding of my condition and how to build a path forward to heal."
- Maria, 51, nurse
Why Migraine?
I didn't set out to specialize in migraine. It found me — patient after patient came to my practice after years of being told it was just stress and handed a prescription that stopped working after a few months. The pattern was almost always the same underneath: not just head pain, but a nervous system that had been stuck in overdrive for a long time, with sleep, gut health, and hormones all tangled up in it. One condition, several root causes, and never just one fix.
What Makes My Approach Different?
I usually start by asking what your body needs today, rather than what's wrong with you — a small shift, but it changes the whole conversation. I'm not against medication, and I'm not going to talk you out of something that's working. What I care about is that you actually understand the mechanism behind your migraine, so that whatever we choose together — nutrition, nervous system work, medication, or some mix of it — is a decision you understand, not one you're just following.
Most of what passes for treatment hands you a protocol and sends you off. Protocols stop working the moment your life changes. What I'm actually trying to teach doesn't expire that way.
Who This is For
A good fit if:
You're in the gap between diagnosis and your next appointment, and you don't want to spend it waiting.
You're already managing a full life and don't have room for one more thing that doesn't work
You want to understand what's happening in your body, not just quiet the symptom
You're willing to notice your own patterns — including on the weeks that don't go well, not just the ones that do
Probably not the right fit if:
You're looking for a formal diagnosis
You need urgent medical care
You want to be told exactly what to do without understanding why
Life happens. Miss a session, fall behind for a week — there's no penalty, and you pick back up where you are.
